My own learning about English-language poetry has led me to Karen Solie. I was particularly struck by this passage:
You’ve outlived your design.
Would need to be retrofitted for safety
and who has that kind of time.
-For the Ski Jump at Canada’s Olympic Park, Calgary
Feels like we’re talking about people over forty. I should be retrofitted, but who has that kind of time? Also, give me another 20 years and I’m aged like a fine wine or cheese and don’t people pay premium for that?
