When she told us about one of her favourite toys, growing up in Montreal in the 1930s, it painted such a picture in my mind that I couldn&rsquo;t help but take her love of her paper dolls and insert it into my next short story.<\/p>\n<p>I read an excerpt of\u00a0<em>Paper Dolls\u00a0<\/em>at the\u00a0<em>Voices<\/em> book launch, voicing my main character both as a child and as an elderly woman.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ammatte.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Voices2014-AMM-lit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1043\" alt=\"A.M.
